Rotkäppchen

A series of illustrations accompanying the four main characters of the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood - the Huntsman, the Grandmother, the Big Bad Wolf, and Red - acting as Jung’s four elements of the individual - the Ego, the Persona, the Shadow, and the True Self - on their journeys in the Schwarzwald - the forest of the unconscious.

The series is structured around four classic playing card suits from the Germanic region, Acorns, Hearts, Leaves, and Bells, and awaits expansion into a full deck of oracular playing cards. Executed by Alexander Finis in ink and gold leaf, 2020-2023.
